Playing with the poem
"This Is Just to Say" by William Carlos Williams
1
I have eaten
the plums
that were in
the icebox
and which
you were probably
saving
for breakfast
Forgive me
they were delicious
so sweet
and so cold
and I have eaten
the oranges and apples
that were in
the icebox
and which
you were probably
saving
for lunch or dinner
Forgive me
they were delicious
and please
put that knife down
(green part is the part I added)

I have eaten
the plums
that were in
the icebox
and which
you were probably
saving
for breakfast
Forgive me
they were delicious
so sweet
and so cold
but I have not eaten
the pie it was on
that was in
the icebox
and which
you were probably
saving
for my birthday.

I happen to love these poems. You should submit them to Gallimaufry! And by the by, I was totally there when you wrote them. When you're a published poet, I'll say "I was there for her poetry!"
ihihi, i'm flattered.
