What I by Myself Should and Did Lose
Moonie Kim

As I see myself— I know I should lose
One if not couple ten pounds.
No need nagging, I by myself should choose.

Sometimes I try to stand up and speak— but no use,
For I restrain myself no matter how good it sounds.
As I see myself— I know I should lose.

So senile am I, for forgetting fully that I look like a muddled moose,
Trying to look like nibbling new clothes, is this my heart that pounds?
I truly tarry to fit every cloth I by myself choose.

Though I manage yself to try times more— still no use,
For all I see is only the fickle face that again rounds.
As I see myself— I know I should lose.

Running rage ruptures, so does doubt; am I walking like a gobbling goose,
Trying to look lithe when whimful body again rounds?
When will I be blissful about who I by myself did not choose.

These pounds I should lose did make me lose,
Chasing me in everyday life like hunting hounds—
As I see myself— I know I should lose;
No need nagging, I by myself should choose.

Yes, this is a villanelle(wow, a lot of ls) I submitted to my English class.
The very common theme of a villanelle is loss and I twisted a little bit;
what I should lose(weight) and I did lose(lots of stuff, you know).
I kinda like this... at least, it's not bad- I think.
